Vital Signs: Teaching, Translating, and Popularizing Medical English in the Digital Age

This event stems from an ambitious interdepartmental initiative involving collaboration among the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries, the Department of Medicine and Surgery, and the Department of Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies of the University of Parma.

The conference represents one of the main outcomes of a research project aimed at developing the serious game entitled: Serious Games as a Tool to Improve Students’ and Professionals’ Translation and Communication Skills in the Medical Field.

The meeting offers a unique forum for dialogue in which scholars and specialists in English for Medical Purposes (EMP) will engage with physicians, nurses, IT experts, and game designers. At the heart of the discussion will be the impact of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence on the analysis, teaching, and translation of specialised medical language, exploring how digital innovation and gamification are transforming healthcare communication and professional training.
