Recognition of language certificates

Students who have in their programme of study one of the curricular language proficiency tests (“idoneità”) managed by the Language Centre (*) and who have been awarded an external language certificate included among those indicated in the list below may request to be exempted from the test by following the instructions on this page. The exemption request can be submitted starting from the academic year and semester in which the test is included in the programme of study of their degree course.

  • the language certificate must be verifiable

SUBMISSION PERIODS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025

Requests can only be sent in certain periods. You may choose the period you prefer from the three below, provided that your programme of study including the test is already in your Esse3 booklet for the semester in which you are sending your request.

from 18th November to 16th December 2024, with verbalisation at the end of December

from 7th January to 25th June 2025, with verbalisation at the end of each month (if the test is scheduled in your programme of study for the 2nd semester, it is only possible to submit the request starting from March 2025)

from 1st to 25th September 2025, with verbalisation at the end of September.

Any requests received outside these periods will not be considered.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

- Check that your certificate is included in the list above and meets the requirements.

- Verify that you have the “idoneità” in your Esse3 booklet for the current semester (by accessing your Esse3 personal area and clicking on Career, then on Booklet) and that you have paid your university fees.

- DO NOT register for any Exam session (“appello”) on Esse3

- Send an e-mail from your UNIPR address to c.ling@unipr.it, attaching the following documents:

  1. duly completed request form (preferably in Word format);
  2. language certificate (in PDF or JPG/JPEG format).

Recommendations:

  • if the original certificate is on paper, provide a good quality scan (clearly legible and full-page)
  • send documents as normal attachments (not links to files in the cloud)
  • do not send files in Apple .heic or .pages formats, as they cannot be read by the Windows computers in our office

AFTER SUBMISSION

You won’t receive any acknowledgement of receipt, but the sorting of requests is done as a first step in order to notify students quickly if there are obvious problems with the received documents. Please do not send the same request several times, nor send reminders (the automatic reply confirms that your e-mail has been delivered).

Students who follow the instructions correctly will receive official confirmation by e-mail when their application has been processed (the timing will depend on the number of applications received): after certificates verification, students are registered by our staff to an hidden special Exam session, different from the published ones, in order to be able to subsequently proceed with verbalisation; if you see the registration to an Exam session on your Esse3 Booking notice board, please do not cancel it.

After receiving our confirmation by e-mail, you won’t have to do anything: your “idoneità” will appear as passed in your academic records within a maximum of 60 days from your request.

(*) The information on this page applies exclusively to curricular language proficiency tests (“idoneità”) managed by the Language Centre.

  • For exemptions from any other language exams or for any other kind of recognition (e.g. graded language exams, “Abilità linguistiche”, free credits, international mobility programmes) students should refer to their Department or degree course webpages, to the professor in charge of the subject or to the relevant office.
  • For recognitions of curricular language exams previously taken in another degree course or university, students should refer to the Student Registry Office of their Department.
