Francophonie Day
Established thirty years ago by the French Ministry of Culture, the Journée de la Francophonie aims to celebrate the French language, a true “langue-monde” spoken by over 300 million people across five continents.
For this reason, the Language Centre of the University of Parma is pleased to join in the events taking place worldwide from the 17th to the 20th of March 2026 by organising a Study Day dedicated to Francophone languages and cultures.
The event will take place on the 18th of March 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Edunext Lecture Hall (Via D’Azeglio, Parma).
Admission is free, subject to availability. It will also be possible to attend remotely by scanning the QR code on the poster to access the Microsoft Teams link.
Throughout the day, distinguished scholars will explore literary, cinematic and musical expressions from various Francophone regions, ranging from Québec to the Caribbean, and from the Maghreb to the Mashriq.
The initiative is open to the academic community (students, faculty and technical-administrative staff) as well as to all members of the public interested in discovering the richness of Francophone cultures and the linguistic varieties of French in and beyond mainland France.
A detailed programme of the event will be made available shortly on this website.
